Google is updating its magnified reality SDK so that phones with dual cameras can capture better in-depth information. As mentioned Android Police, The most recent update to Google Play Services for the AR app, describes how Google distributes Arcore features, now referred to as “dual camera stereo depth on supported devices”.

For now, it seems that this support will be limited to Google’s own Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL, both of which will be released in 2019. List Google’s developer site says dual camera support for compatible ARCore devices will be developed in the coming weeks.

Notably, the 2020 Pixel phones with dual cameras, the Pixel 5 and 4A5G, no longer see the benefits. Since their secondary cameras are ultraviolet rather than telephotos of the Pixel 4 and 4XL, they will have implications for how they can produce detailed in-depth maps.

However, this is just another consequence of Google’s skepticism about pixel camera lenses. The company has long insisted that only one camera is needed due to such computational features Super res zoom in pixel 3, Then Confusingly added a telephoto lens to the Pixel 4 Anyway, backed up and An ultravide changed it At pixel 5.
